User Safety

How do I stay safe and protect my NFTs?

One of the most important things you need to learn early on is how to keep your NFTs safe.

Here is our NFT safety 101

1.Official support channels

It is important to only contact us through our official communication channels.

We will never ask for your wallet recovery phrase or details.

Our official links are:

  • Discord (link)
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Live 24/7 chat
  • Email

2. Recovery phrase

Every digital wallet comes with a recovery phrase.

This phrase is only used if you forget your wallet password.

Your recovery phrase resets your digital wallet, and you can recover your NFTs and crypto.

You must write this phrase down and keep it in a safe place

Do not keep this phrase on your computer!

No one should ever ask to see this phrase. It is for your eyes only!

3. Official wallet link

When creating a digital wallet, it is important to ensure you are connecting to its official extension or app.

4. Official NFT websites

You will need to use many different websites when investing in NFTs. Only use official links.

We recommend saving these official links to your browser to reduce the chance of clicking on a malicious link in the future.

5. Passwords

We recommend creating passwords that are not easy to guess and that you can remember.

You may wish to use a password manager.

You may end up creating many digital wallets, and you will need to create a new password for each one.

Store these passwords in a secure place and never on your phone or computer!

6. 2FA (Two-factor authentication)

It is advisable to use a 2FA like Google Authenticator and Authy.

7. Hardware wallet

We recommend purchasing a hardware wallet to increase your NFT protection.

The most popular NFT hardware wallet is the Ledger.

8. Offline computer

If you have valuable NFTs, you can increase your protection by using a computer that has never connected to the internet. This computer is only for your digital wallets.

9. Revoke websites

You will need to connect your wallet to websites. Once you have concluded your online activities, we recommend revoking these websites.

You can do this directly in your online digital wallet.

10. VPN

We recommend using a VPN at all times.

11. Anti-virus software

It is advisable to purchase an antivirus software program.

Keep this program active when you use your computer.

12. Emails

Please ensure you do not open any emails you do not recognize.

If you receive an email from us, please ensure it is official.

Why has my NFT been flagged?

Our users can flag NFTs for suspicious activity.

NFTs are flagged for the following reasons:

  • The NFT is stolen
  • The NFT collection is a derivative
  • An NFT may infringe on copyright
  • The NFT collection has suspicious activities
What should I do if my account is compromised?

The first thing to do is move your NFTs linked to your wallet to a new wallet.

This reduces the chance of someone accessing your NFTs.

You can also revoke access from our site to your wallet.

You can always reconnect after this issue has been dealt with.

Our guide to staying safe in Discord

The first thing you need to do once verified on our discord channel is to go to the top of our page and close your DMs.

How to close your DMs

Step One

Right-click on the down arrow to the right of our server logo.

Step two

Click on the privacy settings.

Step three

Deactivate your DMs.

When using Discord, it is important to be careful when replying to direct messages.

Scammers use direct messaging to attempt to relieve you of your precious NFTs.

If you receive a DM from someone you do not know, be careful, it could be a red flag.

NFTAVE never private messages you to offer “help.” We will never ask you for your wallet information.

We will never ask you to send us NFTs or cryptocurrency.

If you are unsure about anything in discord, you can screenshot the message and post it on our channel.

The team will confirm if it is officially from them.

We have 24/7 live chat for all our users.

Contact our official chat here.

Common Discord scams

Here are three main discord scams that you need to be aware of.

Direct messages

Discord direct messages (DMs) are the most common method for scammers (and bots) to try and scam you.

These messages will try and get you to click a link or mint an NFT.

The first thing to remember is scammers will always try to create a sense of urgency!

For example:

You must act now to receive this.

Take your time, do not rush into anything. If something sounds too good to be true and has a sense of urgency, it could be a scam.

Impersonations

Scammers are clever and can create a discord handle that looks very similar to our official team members.

Our team will only contact you when you directly ask for our help.

Only use our official links - you will find them in the official links section of our discord.

OTC

This is a popular scam.

The scam works like this:

  • Someone DMs you and offers you a great deal for your NFT.
  • Their goal is to get you to link your wallet to a website and steal your NFT.
  • Some OTC trades are legitimate but be aware that some are not.
  • The safest thing to do is list your NFT on our marketplace and make the buyer go through the official process.
  • The small fee you pay is well worth the protection we afford sellers and buyers.

Our Discord safety checklist

  • Choose a strong password for your discord
  • Turn on 2FA
  • Turn off DMs
  • Do not click on any (non-official) links in discord
  • Do not connect your wallet to any non-official links
  • Create a burner digital wallet for discord
Why have my items and collections been delisted?

If your NFT collection or items are de-listed, it could be because they violate our Terms of service.

Link to our terms of use

Your collection and items remain on the blockchain, but you will not be able to view them on NFTAVE.

User safety and delisting

Please read our user safety information below.

This guide explains why your items and collections may have been de-listed from our marketplace.

The main reasons an NFT is delisted is:

  • Promotes harm
  • Incites hate
  • Incites violence
  • Infringes on IP rights
  • Violates our Terms of Service
